Senior Rabiah Na’allah describes how she did her research before choosing Honors at Iowa and, as a student, has made great use of the various supports the program offers--from Primetime to Peer Mentors to scholarship possibilities.

Dear Prospective Student,

I am overjoyed that you are considering making the University of Iowa your home for the next four years! Not only that, but you're looking into the Honors Program, which I think is fantastic. We can't wait to have you here! My name is Rabiah Na’Allah and I am a third year Honors student from central Illinois.

I remember discovering the University of Iowa during my senior year of high school after a friend told me about it. I investigated their facilities, academic programs, and student life. I wanted something that would enrich my undergrad experience as someone who took many honors classes in high school. I was overjoyed to discover that UI had something that would both satisfy and encourage my academic goals. I stalked all the Peer Mentor and Outreach Ambassador profiles, just as you are doing now, because I needed to know everything. It didn't take long for me to realize that the University of Iowa was the place I wanted to be.

One of the main reasons I wanted to get involved with Honors was the welcoming, kind, and passionate nature of the Honors staff. A week before classes started on campus, I enrolled in Honors Primetime, a three-day educational workshop that made me more comfortable as a new student and appealed to my interests. During my first semester, I was able to take an Honors Seminar class that enabled me to meet and discuss with more of my peers. I’m even still friends with some of the people I met during both experiences! I talked with Peer Mentors who guided and advised me for my first year of college, telling me about experiential learning, study abroad and scholarship possibilities through the Honors Program. It meant so much to know I could reach out to someone and have my questions answered.

There are so many opportunities here for you to succeed and grow as an individual. We would be so happy to have you here, and I hope you consider the University of Iowa and the Honors Program!

Rabiah Na’Allah
