While the scholarship focuses on academic achievement and service oriented leadership, the goals of the program are to better prepare our scholars for the University of Iowa and the world by:
- Explore avenues to self-discovery through learning how service/civic engagement might look in a variety of careers or disciplines.
- Develop a sense of community within Honors at Iowa and the greater Iowa City community.
- Encourage exceptional academic ability
- Practice integrity in scholarship and leadership
- Develop intellectual curiosity
- Appreciate and respect difference(s)
Requirements
Enrollment in a 1 credit hour Presidential Scholars Seminar in both Fall 2024 and Spring 2025;
Mandatory attendance at 3 Presidential Scholar events per year; AND
Mandatory attendance at either the Presidential Welcome event or the Presidential Tea Party.
In addition to your connection to our community of Presidential Scholars and the resources outlined above, you will receive funding for up to three years or until the completion of your bachelor’s degree (whichever comes first). You will retain your scholarship provided you maintain full-time enrollment each semester, maintain a 3.33 University of Iowa cumulative grade-point average, fulfill the Presidential Scholars requirements listed above, and remain in good standing in terms of the University of Iowa Code of Student Life.
