Meet Honors at Iowa's Anya Kim, a 2016 "Fulbrighter" who travelled to Scotland this summer as a recipient of a Fulbright-Scotland Summer Institute Award

Anya Kim grew up in North Carolina, Michigan and Iowa, and she is currently a rising junior at the University of Iowa, where she studies Neurobiology, Spanish and Clinical and Translational Science. She spends most of her time working in the lab, where she studies the neurobiology of stroke. Her research has earned her an American Heart Association Undergraduate Fellowship and the Hesseltine Award from the Honors Biology Department. She is also dedicated to serving as the student representative for the Honors Steering Committee, volunteering as a Student Leader Board Member for the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics, being a Latham Science Engagement Fellow, working as the vice-president of the Presidential Scholars Program, and playing on the Women’s Ultimate Frisbee Team. This summer, she looks forward to exploring the scientific research going on in these two distinguished universities, and getting to experience the culture and landscape of Scotland.
