NSF Graduate Research Fellowship

2017 Application Development Workshops

Monday, September 11 UI Introduction to the NSF Graduate Research Fellowship

10:30 AM-12:00 PM at UCC 2500 Register at https://goo.gl/Szajrv

Beginning September 18, 2017 Weekly Peer Review Workshop Series

coordinated by Kelly Thornburg, Director of Scholar Development

We will focus our discussion and draft review on the personal statement (PS) and strategies for the effective and consistent discussion of intellectual merit and broader impacts throughout the application portfolio.

With the GRFP application deadlines falling in late October, I propose the following schedule:

  • Monday, September 18 Session One Getting past “What the hell do they want?”
  • Monday, September 25 Session Two Building a conceptual framework
  • Monday, October 2 Session Three PS Problem-solving
  • Monday, October 9 Session Four PS Problem-solving
  • Monday, October 16 Session Five PS Problem-solving

Right now, the timing of the weekly meeting is up in the air.  Depending on folks’ availability, I may choose one time for all five dates or go with what works for the most each week.

Whatever timing works out, we’ll be in the Blank Honors Center for each session. To let me know you are interested in participating (and when you can do so), complete the Fall 2017 GRFP Undergraduate Workshop Doodle poll.  Once the dates are set, I’ll email participants AND post them here.

Thank you for posting your interest and availability in Doodle by COB on Thursday, September 14
