In a campus-wide effort to invite author JK Rowling to Iowa as a Spring 2016 speaker, the UI Lecture Committee needs your help! The Honors Program has chosen to assist due to the deep connection with the topic through our Honors seminar, Harry Potter and the Quest for Enlightenment, taught by Dr. Donna Parsons. In conjunction with the opening of the UI Children’s Hospital, and Iowa City's international status as a City of Literature, the Committee hopes to bring the author to campus despite the fact she rarely does public speaking. This is why your help is needed to make this a personal invitation from the entire community.

All individuals and organizations are encouraged to write letters inviting JK Rowling to campus. In your letter, share how the story of Harry Potter has personally affected you and/or those around you, and explain what her visit would mean to you and your community.

Letters will be accepted at the 3rd floor reception desk of the BHC until Thursday, March 12th.  No need to put it in an envelope, just the letter is needed.

The original call for letters by the UI Lecture Committee is below for those interested. (Note the official call offers an alternative location to send letters to.)
