University of Iowa

To commend and recognize students who graduate from the University of Iowa with University Honors, we gather at the end of each spring semester for the University Honors Commendation Ceremony. Honors staff and faculty bestow honorary regalia to recognize our students' extraordinary academic achievements.

Commendation Ceremony Group
The 2019 University Honors Commendation Ceremony

will be held the evening of Friday, May 10th at 6pm in Macbride Auditorium.

Spring graduates will receive additional information and an invitation in April. Students who complete an RSVP form confirming plans to attend by the deadline given in the invitation will be sent detailed instructions about arrival, check-in, and seating. We encourage students to review this information carefully and share it with any guests who will be joining us at the ceremony.

Students who confirm through the RSVP form that they will not be attending the Commendation Ceremony will be emailed instructions about how to pick up a University Honors medallion.

December and August graduates are also welcome to join us for the Commendation Ceremony immediately preceding or following their graduation date. Most typically, December graduates participate in the following May, while August graduates participate in the preceding May. Interested students or graduates should notify the honors program at least one month prior to the ceremony by emailing

Please contact with questions.
