Honors
Honors at Iowa has been blessed by contributors with the capacity to celebrate distinguished work by its students. We do not offer scholarships for entering students; at Iowa, those come primarily from the Offices of Admissions and Financial Aid. Yet we do award a range of merit scholarships for Honors Students already engaged in courses and co-curricular activities at the University of Iowa. We also provide unique support for students to pursue major national and international awards.
On the right, you can access information about these resources. Another gateway is the Honors Scholarship Coordinator, who offers personal coaching to students on scholarship opportunities both within and beyond Honors at Iowa. The Aces Program is Iowa’s unique preparation for participation in public affairs and external scholarship competitions. The other buttons on the right lead to the scholarship competitions superintended by Honors itself.
Pursuing scholarships can take lots of energy, imagination, and psychological investment. To win can be amazing; to lose can be painful. Win or lose, though, each scholarship effort can become terrifically educational. It can enlarge your horizons and develop your skills. It can increase contacts, enrich networks, and create lasting friends. Scholarship competitions are not for everybody. But Honors at Iowa supports so many because it knows they can become indispensable paths to self-discovery and -enhancement for lots of its students. We urge you to ponder taking part!
