Scholarships
University of Iowa
The University of Iowa provides a variety of merit-based and need-based scholarships to entering and continuing students.
The Presidential and Old Gold Scholarships are Iowa’s most prestigious academic scholarships for undergraduate students. They are merit awards renewable for four years, and their recipients are admitted automatically to the Honors Program. Presidential and Old Gold Scholars enjoy further privileges that include priority for on-campus housing, course registration, and library loans. Likewise Honors offers these Scholars special programs and mentoring opportunities.
Several other merit scholarships from Iowa provide automatic membership in Honors. These include National Merit Scholars, National Achievement Scholars, National Hispanic Scholars, NAASE (National Academy of Arts, Sciences and Engineering) Scholars, Tippie Scholars, and China BESTS.
Due dates for applications can be early, especially for entering students. Some Iowa scholarships recognize relatives of alumni or students with particular ethnic or geographic backgrounds. The Honors Program does not administer any of these scholarships, but it encourages interested students to apply. For additional information, please contact the Office of Admissions or the Office of Student Financial Aid.
