Glamour’s Top Ten College Women

Each year, Glamour magazine stages a competition to acclaim ten college women whose attainments mark them as likely leaders in a wide range of important fields.  The magazine enjoys pointing out that one of the winners in 1961 was Martha Stewart.  A major goal of the competition is to encourage women in college to dream big and act accordingly.

To recognize the womens’ superlative records in academic, service, and leadership efforts, the magazine features them in an autumn issue.  In tandem with the appearance of that issue, Glamour also brings the winners to New York City for sessions with each other and leading professionals in their fields as well as the presentation of cash awards.

The University of Iowa Honors Program nominates competitors in the spring.  Possibly interested students should contact the Honors Scholarship Director early in the spring semester for further information.
