Iowa Honors Connection

The Iowa Honors Connection features some of the country’s best facilities for honors education.  Our hub for Honors activities and initiatives is the Blank Honors Center, opened in 2004.  Next door is the Honors House.  Expanding two earlier Honors floors, it began filling Daum Hall in 2006 and extending into Burge Hall in 2008.  Both branches of the Honors House eat in the Burge Marketplace.  For further information, please click on the right.

Burge and Daum share a hallway on their lowest levels, enabling students to avoid unpleasant weather in moving between these two residence halls, which are only a few steps apart.  A skywalk delivers Daum residents of the Honors House directly to the third floor of the Blank Honors Center.

The Honors Student Center occupies most of the BHC third floor.  It offers indoor sites for talk, study, meeting, computing, and myriad other activities — plus a spacious sun porch.  The Honors Staff Center is on the fourth floor, with the first two floors providing an atrium as well as seminar rooms.

A further link is an outdoor plaza just to the south of Daum and the east of the Blank Honors Center.  It squares a circle in granite and gathers students for events like ice cream socials.  A terraced porch reaches west from the Burge Marketplace to give students in Burge and Daum a second plaza for outdoor activities.
