Honors Peer Advisors

For student perspectives on Honors opportunities, please contact the Honors Peer Advisors.  These are experienced Honors Students who share their knowledge with interested colleagues.  The Peer Advisors are based in the Blank Honors Center, where they schedule appointments and hold office hours for drop-by advising.  They offer information through e-mail exchanges and online chats.  They also do “road shows,” visiting departments or convening meetings for specific majors and pre-professional interest groups.  They customize these road shows for their audiences, and the Honors Peer Advisors welcome inquiries about providing them.  Please click on the right for a roster of Honors Peer Advisors, chat with them online, or the e-mail them.

Peer advising augments professional and faculty advising rather than replacing them.  Consult professional advisors and faculty members about rules, technical details, fields of learning, and career trajectories.  But consult peer advisors about course combinations, study skills, program experiences, and the many other dimensions of honors education where engaged students are the experts.

Might you enjoy helping as an Honors Peer Advisor?  The service and training earn academic credit, count toward Honors Commendations, and should have a special appeal for Honors Students who are active and outgoing.  A detailed job description and an application form can be accessed on the right.
