Honors Summer Guides
Experienced Honors Students help introduce beginners to Honors at Iowa. This starts with the two-day Summer Orientations for entering students. The Honors Professional Staff provides a swift survey of opportunities and requirements. Then the Honors Summer Guides respond to questions from new students and their families about anything under the Honors sun: Honors Activities, Classes, Constellations, Designations, Experiences, Practicums in Research and Teaching, Scholarships, and more. Honors Guides share personal experiences of the Honors House, Honors Clusters, and other living-learning communities at Iowa They talk about how to do research as students, study abroad, arrangement internships, enjoy service-learning, and so on. And they explain Iowa’s distinctive system of Honors Commendations. Please click on the right for a roster of Honors Summer Guides.
While the Honors Director speaks further with parents, the Honors Summer Guides advise small interest-groups of new students. These let individuals get details on specific courses and activities, and it is their first step in building class schedules. When these entering students return to campus to start classes, they can turn to Honors Peer Advisors for further student perspectives on Honors resources.
