Experiences

Iowa treats honors education as talented-and-gifted education for college students.  One of the key implications is an emphasis on experiential learning — that is, learning by doing.

At Iowa, Honors promotes learning by doing in three settings.  Many Honors Classes include exercises in learning by doing.  Our tradition of volunteer participation in Honors Activities is strong, too, and it contributes mightily to the experiential learning that we reward with Honors Commendations.

Yet the main Honors Experiences that Iowa commends come in rich sets of opportunities that often can be done for academic credit.  This section evokes them, and you can click on each label to the right for further information.
